Okay, we’ve all gotten the emails and seen their ads... broken-English promises from dubious SEO and link building companies that sound too good to be true.  Most are associated with India or some Eastern European country. You think "Hey, it’s only a thousand bucks so what’s the worst that can happen?" Well here’s how it works... You give them your money and if you’re lucky they’ll just take it and never speak to you again. If you’re not so lucky, they’ll add your link to hundreds of their own temporary websites and directories (Google hates this.) They’ll create fake accounts on forums and make bogus comments with a link to your site. Forum owners and users hate this and some will report your site to Google. And if you’re really unlucky, you’ll get added to this dubious company’s spamming system. This is the equivalent of website suicide. You might actually gain some ranking on Google at first, but after a couple of months most of your links will vanish. Then when Google finds out your site is a part of the scheme, they’ll ban it from the search engine. The truth is, when it comes to SEO, there is no fast-track. Cheap and dirty solutions end badly.
