Is Google Killing Creativity? Alert to Phoenix Web Designers

  You may have heard by now that Google intends to add website load time to its ranking algorithm in 2010. That means if your website doesn’t live up to Google’s speed requirements, you could lose your Google position. Google would like web pages to be 100k or less in size. Although speed isn’t the only ranking factor, this has big implications.“So what” you say? Consider that handcuffs are now being placed on our Phoenix web designers, internet marketing firms and website designers everywhere. Sometimes just the CSS files of a page can be almost 100k in size. Almost any site that uses more than a splash of Flash, Javascript or anything other than just plain text could be penalized. Hey, don’t we already have online yellow page directories? Don’t get me wrong, I like Google, but it sure looks like they are trying to dictate how they want websites to be built rather than just listing what websites are out there.
